Learning History With Neev

The First Battle of Bands in the World
It is time for a history lesson. During the winter of  1862 the Confederate and Union armies were camped near each other, separated only by the expanse of Rappahannock river, referred to as just the "River with the funny name" by the two armies.
One cold afternoon, a band in the Union camp (Yes, in those days armies were accompanied by live bands. Nothing like a little Elton John to kill those who survived the day's fighting) struck up some tunes to cheer the men. The men almost revolted and defected to the other side.
Not to be undone, the Confederate band answered from across the river . The Union band played another tune followed by the Confederates who also did their best to play the same song. As men died, screaming for peace and universal brother hood of man - the musical duel went well into the evening hours. Soldiers in both armies listened to the musical battle and would cheer for the other side. The duel finally ended when both sides played "Home Sweet Home" together and the fishes committed suicide. It was then that the men of both sides, who were so far from their homes, cheered as one and the first battle of the bands ended. Followed by the invention of the first ear-plugs.

Remember Me - Augustus at Neev 2008

For the rights I did, not the wrongs in my book.
For the roads I avoided, not the shortcuts I took.
Not for the scars marked across my skin,
Remember me for the man I could have been.

For the virtue unshown, not the sins I did
For what I had to show, not what I hid.
For the songs I wrote, not the words I said.
For the life that could have been when I turn dead.

For the shoulder I gave, not the backs I turned,
For the blows I took, not the ones I returned.
For my conscience, not for my mind unclean
Remember me for the man I could have been

The things I bought, not the ones I quickly sold
For what I did, not the stories that are told.
The thoughts inside, not the brilliant spin.
Remember me for the man I could have been.

- Remember Me, from the blog Gaurav Parab Says

Life has not been kind. The promise has not been fulfilled. Time runs out with evey single wasted moment. You have run away from your biggest fears, and run out of enemies to run over. Moments of clarity are rare. As doors slam in to your face, a few doors are simply forced open by the shockwaves of misfortune.

Augustus, is Neev's flagship event. Augustus is the last door to what you could have been.

The biggest B School event ever. 3 days. Prize Money of 2 LACS. Last Man / Woman Standing.

The last day for sending entries for the prelim round is 15 November.

Augustus finds himself on the 28th, 29th, and 30th of November.

The world finds him on the 30th of November.

Life, marriage, babies, and brilliant mediocrity after that.

Duality - The Neev Poem

A fistful of soil, a divine touch
Adam, the man is born
Wandered he, in search of his complete self
And thus, Eve came to the fore

In this unity of man & woman, was born the duality of life...

To the golden gate, Rivers of milk, fruit laden trees
Every soul wills to belong
Forget not, the fiery depths and the parched lands
Where even the sacred dare not tread

In this unity of heaven and hell, was born the duality of earth

Darkness sneaked through the clouds
And, days became nights
Then, the first rays of sun crept through
And….then there was light

In this unity of darkness and light, was born the duality of cosmos

Then there were those who had forsaken all evil
For their own good
And, remember those who embraced all evil
For the greater good

In this unity of Good and Evil, was born the duality of character

I am DUALITY
My choices are but a paradox
Realize me…revile ME
I am ….Supreme

Neev - Who Am I ?

For
The ignorant who searches wisdom in vain
The learned who needs the bliss of ignoranceI’m unavoidable…

For
The rich who misses the compassion
The poor who lacks the comfortI’m inevitable…

For
The dreamer who wants to makes it real
The pragmatic who wants to dream big
I’m more than an obligation…

For
The weak who yearns for strength...
The strong who grows weary...I’m inescapable...

For
The doubting who needs proof
The faithful who are excited
I’m Obvious

For
The haughty who are humbled
The humble who are glorified
I’m the essence

Who am I?

Good or Bad
Fair or Wrong
True or a lie
I’m present
In your life

In your dream
In your day In your night

While you talk While you walk
While you come in While you go out
I lead I follow
I’m slave I’m master
I feign I reign
Love me or Hate me
I’m there I am here

I’m Duality and I am there.. EVERYWHERE!!!

Welcome To Neev 2008

This is the Neev Team's first post. Pardon the typos, and do pardon the lack of content on the blog so far. We want to get started on the right note and get started fast, so NO THIS BLOG IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION messages will be displayed. Yes, we have our exams going on, and yes we seem to have run out of both humor and ideas for our first post - but we will continue bravely and write one more meaningless sentence. There you go.

As we go forward, you will be seeing a lot of Neev related updates on the blog, along with pictures, resources and links to our Shaddi.com profiles. Just kidding. We will not be doing updates, pictures and resources.

Lets end with a random public service message. "Pulse Polio rocks"
